Som så många andra upptäckte jag inte Neil Gaimans The Sandman på riktigt innan jag såg serien på Netflix. Serien var såklart lysande, och jag blev sugen på att gå tillbaka till originalet. Jag spontanköpte ett par av samlingsutgåvorna på Science Fiction-bokhandeln i Göteborg och började läsa. Ofta sägs det att aptiten växer medan man äter, men för mig har det varit tvärtom. Jag läser ett kapitel i taget, inte mer. Serieformatet är svårare än man kan tro, när man som jag läst uteslutande text. Men men, jag lär mig nytt hela tiden.
Snart nog inser man hur stort The Sandman Universe är. Det börjar så klart med The Sandman, men det slutar inte där. Personer och händelser får ett eget liv utanför berättelsen om The Sandman, och skapar paralleller som är mer eller mindra beroende av huvudberättelsen.
Jag tänker försöka sammanfatta min läsning, en bit i taget, så gott det låter sig göras.
